Big on performance. Gentle to the environment

The Tiguan is the world’s first SUV on the market fitted exclusively with turbocharged TDI and TSI engines. At the same time, the new generation of petrol and diesel engines is characterised by extra power, reduced consumption and lower emissions. The Tiguan has three powerful TSI engines from 110 kW (150 hp) to 147 kW (200 hp) and the first four-cylinder common rail TDI of the Volkswagen brand; they generate 103 kW (140 hp) and 125 kW (170 hp) (fuel consumption: 6.9 – 9.9 l/100 km; CO2 emissions: 182 – 234 g/km**). Even today, these diesel power plants comply with the Euro 5 emission standard, which is not due to come into force until 2009.

One for all

The suspension in the Tiguan has been designed such that it can negotiate the complete range of road surfaces with perfect ease. The 4MOTION permanent four-wheel drive distributes the entire power optimally between the front and rear suspension and the wheels on each axle. The system detects deviations within fractions of a second and compensates these accordingly. At low acceleration torques, the system changes over automatically to the fuel-saving front-wheel drive.

Sheer pulling power – up to 2.5 tonnes

There are many reasons that speak for the new Tiguan. Particularly compelling reasons in this regard are also perhaps a driver’s hobbies or transportation needs, which make it necessary to attach a trailer. Such tasks pose no problem whatsoever with the new Tiguan Track & Field! Dependent on the engine you choose, it can pull up to 2.5 tonnes with ease. Combined with the standard-fitted trailer stabilisation system, which keeps both the vehicle and the trailer constantly precisely aligned, you are always assured of driving on the safe side.
