The Polo GTI.

The Polo GTI, like the Golf GTI, features a turbo engine with intercooler. Because if the car bears the GTI badge, it needs to deliver the right levels of torque too. A 1,8 l five-valve, four-cylinder engine with a power output of 110 kW (150 bhp) (fuel consumption: 7,8 l/100 km; CO2 emissions: 186 g/km**) delivers plenty of thrust at low revs. In fourth gear, it takes just 7,5 seconds to accelerate from 80 to 120 km/h. Other marks of the car's sporty performance are: from 0 to 100 km/h in 8,2 seconds and a maximum torque of 220 Nm.

The 16'' alloy wheels in the style of the Golf GTI, with their five U-shaped openings, have the effect of a stroboscope: even at top speed the red brake calipers remain strikingly on view. The sports suspension sets the chassis 15 mm lower; the tyres stand solidly in the wheel arches. Black side sills underscore the dynamic suspension setup. A roof spoiler ensures optimum levels of rear end downforce.
