The New Beetle.

Everybody remembers the very first Volkswagen car of all: the Beetle.
With its unique shape and reliability, it wrote motoring history. In 1993, Volkswagen succeeded in picking up where it had left off and put a smiling new face on the icon in the guise of the New Beetle.

When in 1993 Volkswagen succeeded in linking up with this history, everyone was thrilled. A driveable full-scale model based on the first design study, called "Concept 1", was produced for the 1994 Detroit Motor Show. At the 1995 Tokyo Motor Show, Volkswagen presented the "New Beetle" design study, by then almost ready for series production. Anyone could order it from 1998.
