Chlorinated HydrocarbonsIn the past, chlorinated hydrocarbons (»halogenated hydrocarbons) were used in their liquid state as solvents and cleaning agents (Tri, Per). It is suspected that the highly volatile chlorinated hydrocarbons are carcinogenic and promote the greenhouse effect. Chlorinated hydrocarbons are no longer used in production at Volkswagen; they are also banned from the Volkswagen customer service organization.
