AlternatorGenerates the electrical energy for all current-using equipment in the vehicle. Excess energy is routed to the battery and stored there. The alternator is driven by the crankshaft by means of a V-belt, and runs at double the engine speed. In order to maintain alternator power at the correct level, it is important to ensure that the V-belt always has the right tension.
