Mobility and Sustainability.

Over 9,800 employees work at FAW Volkswagen Automotive Company, Ltd., a joint operation by FAW, Volkswagen and Audi. Following plant expansion in 2004 (Car Plant 2), up to 600,000 vehicles can now be manufactured here each year; these include Jetta, Jetta A2, Bora, Golf and Passat VW models as well as Audi models A4, and A6. FAW-VW was officially established in 1991. Full operations began in 1996, with continuous expansion of production since then.

Environmental certification and energy savings
Following quality certification in 1998 of the Changchun location in compliance with ISO 9001, in 2002 the plant also received the environmental certificate in accordance with ISO 14001. In addition to production committed to environmental protection and responsible use of resources, current environmental management focuses on energy-saving projects. Amongst the many projects which have been effected are optimisation of lighting and improvements in air-conditioning units by means of a temperature control system. All products manufactured by FAW-VW are state of the art from both a technological as well as ecological perspective, and of course meet all Chinese requirements and standards.

Occupational and health safety
If industrial accidents or environmental damage occur, these are dealt with in accordance with legal provisions, and the result is reported to the respective authorities. Health insurance and a retirement pension insurance fund are provided for all permanent Chinese employees. As part of the health care plan, all employees over the age of 35 receive medical checkups and additional inoculations.

Employee advancement
A variety of opportunities for further training are available to FAW-VW employees. Basic training in a number of subject areas is available, including job-oriented further training in vehicles, PC applications or quality. Advanced training in such topics as group management is directed towards group spokespersons, foremen, junior employees or managers.
