The Touareg V10 TDI can pull a 155-ton Boeing 747. Born as a bet, the event was finally realised by Volkswagen employees in Dunsfold, England. But first of all, the Touareg was modified: Weight and tire pressure were increased and the maximum speed was limited. The result: With a speed of 8 km/h, the Touareg pulled the Boeing 150 meters.

The Touareg can be easily identified by its shield-shaped radiator grille in chrome look, which typifies the Volkswagen brand. The organically styled headlight housing is another distinctive feature. Yet the Touareg reveals its real abilities off-road. The 4XMOTION four-wheel drive system is permanently active, offering optimum power transmission, even at low revs. Outstanding traction and uncompromising handling are simply a matter of course for the Touareg.

Developed by Volkswagen, the patented ABSplus system in the Touareg is a technical innovation. It detects loose surfaces such as sand or gravel and, by briefly locking the wheels in a controlled manner, reduces the braking distance by up to 20%. The electronic stabilisation program (ESP) also has enhanced functions. For instance, rollover protection has been increased and, as a preventative measure, braking pressure builds up as soon as the foot is removed from the accelerator.

Integrated into the multifunction steering wheel you will find controls for the radio, telephone, navigation system, ACC and cruise control. They are particularly simple and practical to use. High-end in the field of entertainment: the Touareg is the first SUV in the world that can be equipped with a sound system from Danish hi-fi specialists Dynaudio. Ten carefully matched tweeters, mid-range and bass speakers driven by a ten-channel amplifier deliver a full and clear sound with 600 watts of music power.
