Special featuresDavid Footman, who has worked on Hollywood blockbusters such as the “The Day After Tomorrow”, “X-Men”, “X-Men 3”, “iRobot” and “Fantastic Four”, directed the green screen video shoot with Emanuelle Vaugier, star of “40 Days and 40 Nights” and “CSI: NY”, who guides the players through the game as the virtual character “Nikki”. The game features fascinating use of technology thanks to the revolutionary AutosculptTM tool that allows vehicles like the Golf R32 to be custom-designed and tuned in every way imaginable. There are also a range of vehicle classes to choose from: Tuner, American Muscle or Exotic. The new driving model ensures that the cars’ handling is different in each class. Crew members can be selected and deployed according to their abilities. You can then challenge opponents from around the world over the internet.
The soundEA is so successful in the field of in-game music that it has founded its own music label. The label has hit a new high with the soundtrack for Need for Speed Carbon. The soundtrack reflects the various car classes in the game: the riff-heavy power of such bands as Kyuss, Eagles of Death Metal and Wolfmother fuels the Muscle Cars. For the game’s Japanese Tuner Cars, the soundtrack draws on the Electro genre personified by artists like Goldfrapp, The Presets and Melody. The sound for the Exotics comes from the British grime scene with Roots Manuva and Sway as well as international hip-hop from Pharrell and Spank Rock. While the various crews battle it out on the roads, the three music genres combine to create a gripping and explosive game soundtrack.
Volkswagen meets Need for Speed CarbonThe dynamic races in Need for Speed Carbon require equally dynamic cars: that’s the only chance you have. This is where a Volkswagen comes along: within the Golf V R32 beats the heart of a veracious hero. It glides powerfully on the road and lets you feel the pure force of a racy engine – its 250 PS and the 20mm lower sport chassis provide it with a definite advantage in the Carbon Canyons.
